Setup of Item Categories

Item Categories must be setup to track sales of what type of appliances you are selling and what margin you are making on each category.
Item Categories can be kept simple from Range, Dishwasher, Refrigerator, and Microwave. To very detailed such as
Range Electric Coil, Range Electric Glass Top, or Range Electric Convection. idea is keep simple at first if you later find you
want more detailed information then we can add item categories and update the model number list later.

For setup purposes of new Model Numbers we assign general ledger numbers to the category thus not asking for general
ledger numbers for each model number that we setup. All that is asked when setting up a new model number is what item category
and the general ledgers numbers are automatically entered. This is why you must setup Item Categories before an Import of model
numbers can be completed.

To setup up Item Categories you must enter WhirlWind Software.
from the Main Menu; Click Setup; Inventory; Item Categories:

Click 'New' on the toolbar.

Enter the new category name such as 'Range'
You then must click on the gray boxes with the three dots at the left of each GL Type.
Once you have entered all the general ledger accounts for each GL Type Click 'Save' on the toolbar.
Continue with 'New' on the toolbar until you have entered all the categories you want entered.

FYI: on the left side of this setup form is if you want to price your new model numbers by the category you can
enter in a percent for your four price level names. These price level names are defined by you in the Price Level Setup
